Women's Sweaters and Cardigans in Alpaca and Wool
There is a particular feeling to pulling on an alpaca sweater in the first cold week of the year, the way the fiber holds warmth close without the weight you brace for. What matters is how a garment behaves once it is on the body rather than how it photographs on a hanger. Baby alpaca and suri alpaca settle softly against the skin while keeping enough structure to hold a clean line, which is why they carry most of the knitwear here.
Women's sweaters built from the fiber outward age into something better worn than new. Pima cotton and washed wool move and soften with time, and an alpaca cardigan worn open over a slip becomes a different garment in March than it was in December. That long arc of use is the point, and nothing is made to be replaced when the season ends.
What carries you through deep winter is not what you reach for as the light returns, and the knits are shaped around that shift, heavier weights giving way to the finer ones that open into spring. Atelier Delphine works with small, fair-trade mills in Peru, Los Angeles, and New York, and that same care extends to our jackets & coats and tops & blouses.
